About the Artist

Thanks for stopping by! I'm so glad you're here. I am all about stories. Here is a little bit about my own.

I grew up in a world surrounded with art. My parents met in a watercolor art class at UMD and are still practicing artists. All of my (8!) siblings are artists in their own way or another-performance, visual, or written.

My love for art began with music. I was (and still am) so in love with classical music that I chose to earn my B.A. degree in music. I didn’t have the time to get into the visual arts until after I graduated. Right after I graduated from university, I bought myself an entry level dslr, determined to teach myself the art of photography.

My brand new husband, Karl, and I moved to Japan shortly after I graduated. (Graduating university, getting married, honeymooning, and moving to Japan all within three months makes for a busy few months-sometimes I think my head is still spinning from it!) Karl and I stayed in Japan for three years. During that time, I stuck to my goal and taught myself photography…and ended up falling in love with this medium.

I love both the artistic and mechanical sides of this medium. I also love how it leads me to meet such amazing people and learn about and be a part of their stories. Because to me, that is what exceptional photography is all about: the telling of stories. I’m looking forward to meeting you and hearing your story soon.

All the best,
